A new year always brings a certain lightness with it. The struggles of the previous year are replaced with the feeling of infinite possibilities and fresh opportunities. We feel it in our own lives and work, and it's a feeling that Room & Board's latest collection embraces with a host of bright new prospects for 2016.

Long known for rich walnut and cherry finishes, the mid-century modern furniture favorite is introducing a lighter touch. Layered on ash, Room & Board's new Sand finish preserves the integrity of the wood, and creates pieces capable of brightening any space. We recently toured the brand's San Francisco showroom, where we fell hard for all things Sand, along with a handful of other new offerings. Keep reading to see what we're currently swooning over.

1. The Corbett Table

The Evan Chair

The strong solid shape of the Corbett table (pictured above), provides a nice contrast with the light sand finish. It's the kind of table you'll actually want to keep free from clutter so you can enjoy its sleek simplicity.

2. The Evan Chair

Influenced by Danish design and hand-crafted one at a time, the Evan Chair is a new addition to Room & Board's offerings. The shortened arms and rounded silhouette make it perfect for less formal dining spaces.

3. The Ira Chair

The team at Room & Board usually reserves its Sunbrella fabric for outdoor furniture, but they came up with a memorable statement piece by weaving it through a handcrafted cherry frame to create the Ira Chair (pictured below). This fresh piece has an artisinal look that's both striking and inviting.

4. The Bailey Cocktail Table

We were smitten with the elegance of the aluminum brass legs on the Bailey Cocktail Table. It's one of several new pieces that features aluminum hardware created by a mother/daughter engineering team based in Minnesota.

5. Rei Fabric

Maybe it's because we recently moved the Lonny HQ to San Francisco, or maybe we're just in need of a little extra peace and love this election year, but we are definitely feeling the boho vibe of the new Rei fabric, pictured below in indigo on the Lola chair. The eye-catching pattern has just the right amount of Shibori tie-dye references without drifting into Grateful Dead territory.

6. Upholstered Greta Crib

We have long loved Room & Board's upholstered headboards, and now the design-loving little ones in our lives can get in on the action. The new Greta crib comes with a tufted end panel available in 31 different colors across two different fabrics. The signature design feature would add the perfect touch of warmth and coziness to any nursery.

7. Paul Nelson's Flight Collection

Photographer Paul Nelson of Minnesota followed the migratory patterns of North American birds to capture graceful moments of flight takeoff. He then stripped out the backgrounds of the photographs and applied his own artistic touches to create the four-print Flight Collection. We're partial to the vibrant yellow Goldfinch, but any of the pieces would bring a compelling dash of nature to your indoor decor.
